From the 2024 Secondary 1 cohort, Posting Groups replaced the old Express / Normal streams. They determine initial admission and starting subject levels only — students move between subject levels (G1/G2/G3) per subject as they progress.

The best possible PSLE AL score is 4 — AL1 in all four subjects. Lower is better, and popular secondary schools typically have cut-off points around 4–8.
Foundation subjects are graded AL A, B or C, which count as Standard AL6, AL7 and AL8 respectively for the PSLE Score. The calculator handles this mapping automatically.
Scores of 4–20 lead to Posting Group 3, 21–22 to Posting Group 2 or 3, 23–24 to Posting Group 2, 25 to Posting Group 1 or 2, and 26–30 to Posting Group 1 provided English and Mathematics are both AL7 or better. Scores above 30 fall outside the ranges and placement is discussed with MOE.
